And I slept like sleep is going out of style. I’m still tired, actually and could have stayed in bed for a hundred years. There are cobwebs in my head, because my bed is stiff and I’ll have to get used to it again. But I’m good for the most part.
Last night, when I went to get the thing that I forgot, we talked. We said a lot of things, like I’m sorry, both of us were not well in that relationship and both of us tried. We made peace. A clean break.
Stanley is good, too. He was completely stressed out yesterday, walking around the house looking at all the boxes, hiding from the arguments and the drive out to The Joint was pure hell for him and was the icing on the cake. But when we arrived last night, he remembered that he had friends here, Buddy and Scared Cat. So, they played and played. And last night, when we went to bed, he slept in the room with me, with the door closed, because I needed him. He slept on the foot of the bed, by my feet. It was nice.
This morning, when I finally woke up enough to realize that it was daytime and I should get out of the bed, he woke up and Lord, was he lovey dovey. I went to open the door to go out and he was at it, ready to face the day. He peered around the corner, watching and looking for any movement of his pals who might be waiting to play with him. Buddy and Scaredy Cat are indoor/outdoor cats, though and he looked all around the house for them, but they are outside. So he checked out the windows for crows, one of his favorite fascinations. There are no crows here, squawking and taunting him, but he’s alright with that because he has two friends who he’ll play with when they come inside.
And, I would like to point out that I missed The Hour last night. That’s only the second episode that I have missed since the season started.
So, thanks to everyone again, who commented and emailed and sent good thoughts my way. I very nearly decided to go to Summerland for some Avelyn hugs and fresh baked cookies.
